Gran Melia Arusha & Safari Haven
- Gran Melia Arusha1 night
- Tarangire Safari Haven2 nights
- Serengeti Safari Haven3 nights
- Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge
or Oldeani Mountain Lodge2 nights
Begin in Arusha, drift through Tarangire's elephant herds, settle into the Serengeti for three full days, and finish on the Ngorongoro Highlands. Three accommodation tiers, each with up to 10% off when you book early.
A pace built around couples. Soft starts, unhurried lunches, sundowners that linger, and game-drive timings flexed to whatever your morning feels like.
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you are met by your dedicated representative and transferred privately to your Arusha hotel. Mount Meru rises in the distance, the air is cool from the altitude, and the long day of travel ends with a hot shower and a quiet dinner.
Tonight is for arrival — settle in, sleep deeply. Tomorrow, the safari begins.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart Arusha for the drive south to Tarangire National Park — a 3-hour scenic transfer through Maasai country. Picnic lunch en route, then a long afternoon game drive through Tarangire's signature baobab landscape.
Tarangire is famous for two things — the densest elephant population in northern Tanzania and the giant ancient baobabs that punctuate the savannah. Late afternoon light here is photographically the best of the trip. Sundowner at camp, dinner under stars.
Twice-daily game drives in the park — morning before the heat builds, afternoon as the sun softens. Tarangire's river attracts everything in the dry season; expect lion, leopard sightings, ostrich, herds of buffalo, and giraffes against the baobabs. Lunch back at camp with an unhurried siesta in between drives.
Today is the long-route day — you drive up through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a stop at the crater rim viewpoint, then descend into the southern Serengeti for the first plains views. Game drive en route into camp. Settle in by mid-afternoon, then a soft late-day drive to mark the start of three Serengeti nights.
Tip: Tier 3 guests (Four Seasons Serengeti) may opt for an internal light-aircraft flight to skip the long drive — speak to your planner.
A full day in the Serengeti — twice-daily game drives, picnic-lunch option for extended tracking days, return for afternoon tea. The Serengeti's character changes by season: December–March is the southern calving season (cats follow the herds); July–October brings the great migration north toward the Mara River. Whichever you travel in, this is the day you'll remember.
An optional pre-dawn departure for a hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti — easily the trip's most-remembered moment. Float silently across the plains as the sun rises, then a champagne breakfast on landing in the bush.
Late-morning game drive back to camp, a soft afternoon, and a romantic private bush dinner arranged by your camp tonight (subject to camp logistics) — stars, candles, and the soundtrack of the Serengeti at night.
One final morning game drive in the Serengeti, then the scenic drive south-east to the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Lunch at camp on arrival, then a soft afternoon walking the rim trails — the air is cool here at 2,300m, the views across the caldera are among the most quoted in Africa.
Tonight, dinner at altitude — your highlands lodge on the rim has fireplaces, blankets, and the particular hush that comes with mountain air.
The headline day. Pre-dawn breakfast, then descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor — a 600m drop into one of Africa's densest wildlife concentrations. Resident populations of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and the endangered black rhino — the Big Five all in a single drive, in a 260km² caldera enclosed by 600m walls.
Picnic lunch on the crater floor, climb back to the rim mid-afternoon, hot tea waiting at camp.
A leisurely breakfast on the rim, then the scenic drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward connection. Tier 3 guests transfer via Arusha for one final night at the Melia Arusha before departing the next day.
Asante sana — and welcome back, anytime.
One route — three accommodation tiers, three distinct levels of camp. Rates valid for 2026, 2027 and 2028, per person sharing. Honeymoon early-booking discount applies automatically at quotation.

An honest profile of each property in your chosen tier — what they do well, who they suit best, and where they sit on the map.
Arusha sits at 1,400m, cool air, the colonial coffee-and-jacaranda kind of town. After a long flight, the right Arusha hotel sets the trip's tone — hot shower, quiet dinner, deep sleep.
We use 1 properties on all tier — Gran Melia Arusha (the international standard, modern rooms, faultless service).
Tarangire is famous for its huge elephant herds, ancient baobabs, and the river that pulls everything to it during the dry season. Tier 1's Tarangire Safari Haven is a comfortable tented lodge with a private veranda for each tent, traditional safari atmosphere.
Tier 2 places you at Lake Burunge Baobab Tented Lodge (or alternatively Tarangire Angata Camp) — a step up in finishes and lake views. Tier 3 takes you to Mwamba Lodge, the most polished property in this region, with elevated tented suites and full-service spa.
Three nights in one Serengeti property is the right number — long enough to settle into a rhythm, short enough to keep the days fresh. The Serengeti is where most honeymoon photos come from, where the "we made it" moment lands.
Tier 1's Serengeti Safari Haven is a comfortable mid-range tented camp with good game-drive access. Tier 2 places you at Meliá Serengeti Lodge — the best mid-luxury Serengeti lodge in our portfolio, with infinity pool, full spa, and elevated rooms with sweeping plains views.
Tier 3 books the legendary Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti — a masterclass in safari luxury, rooms set above an elephant-frequented waterhole, the kind of property that sets a benchmark for the entire continent.
Ngorongoro is the trip's quietest stop — 2,300m altitude, fireplaces in rooms, the kind of stillness that resets you. Tier 1 places you at Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge (working coffee farm, character) or Oldeani Mountain Lodge (alpine-style chalets, forest setting).
Tier 2 takes you to Lions Paw Ngorongoro — an exclusive tented camp inside the conservation area itself, the only accommodation within 5 minutes of the crater descent road. Tier 3 books the Ngorongoro Meliá Lodge for one rim night before returning via Arusha.
Optional add-ons we arrange on request — quietly, without fuss, and at the right time.
Pre-dawn departure, dawn flight over the Serengeti plains, champagne breakfast in the bush on landing. The trip's most photographed moment. From $599 per person.
A fully set-up romantic dinner in the bush — candles, lanterns, a private chef and an attentive but invisible service team. Subject to camp logistics. Complimentary at most Tier 3 properties.
Bookable at Meliá Serengeti, Four Seasons Serengeti, Mwamba Lodge, and Lions Paw — a relaxed afternoon between game drives. From $90 per person, 60 minutes.
Upgrade to a sole-use private 4×4 with a specialist photo guide for one or more days. Designed for couples shooting the migration or river crossings. From $450 per vehicle per day.
An authentic, ethically-arranged afternoon at a working Maasai boma — a real visit, not a performance. Free to arrange via your Ngorongoro lodge.
Extend the honeymoon with 4–6 nights on Zanzibar — Stone Town, Nungwi, or the secluded north-east coast. Direct fly-out from Serengeti. Tailor-quoted on request.
An honest breakdown across all three tiers — no surprises, no fine print at the gate.
Share your wedding date, preferred travel window, and tier of choice — your honeymoon discount is calculated from your form submission date. We return formal proposal within 48 hours.
The questions our planners are asked most often about this exact route.
The discount is calculated from the date you submit your enquiry, against your honeymoon start date. Book 8+ months ahead — 10% off. 4–7 months ahead — 8% off. 2–3 months ahead — 5% off. Bookings made within 50 days of travel pay the full published rate. The discount is automatically applied at quotation, on the per-person tier rate, and shown on every page of your formal proposal.
Yes. The published rates above are valid for travel in 2026, 2027 and 2028 — Tanzania's lodge rates have firmed for this multi-year window with our partner properties. Festive holiday peak (15 Dec – 5 Jan) carries a small premium that our planners confirm at quotation; otherwise the rates above are what you pay.
Per-person rate (sharing) covers: 1 night Arusha + 7 nights on safari at your chosen tier, private 4×4 safari vehicle with professional guide, all national park & conservation fees, all transfers, full board on safari plus B&B in Arusha, government taxes, drinking water in vehicle, and complimentary honeymoon set-up at lodges. International flights, Tanzania e-Visa ($50), travel insurance, gratuities and balloon flight are extra.
The route is identical across all three — the difference is the camp at each stop. Tier 1 is comfort luxury: tented lodges with full safari atmosphere at $4,955 pp. Tier 2 is premium luxury: Meliá Serengeti and Lions Paw deliver elevated rooms, full spa, and exclusive crater positioning at $6,850 pp. Tier 3 is ultra-luxury: Four Seasons Serengeti and Meliá Arusha bookend a top-of-the-range experience at $8,514 pp.
Three excellent honeymoon windows in Tanzania. June–October is the peak dry season with the Great Migration in the northern Serengeti — incredible wildlife, our most-booked window. January–March is the southern Serengeti calving season — predator action at its highest, warm temperatures. November–December brings short rains, lighter crowds, and lower lodge demand. Avoid April–May (heavy rains, several lodges close).
Yes — and we recommend it. The bush-to-beach combination is the most-booked honeymoon flow in our portfolio. Direct light-aircraft flights from Serengeti or Arusha take you straight to Zanzibar in 60–90 minutes. Most couples add 4–6 nights on Zanzibar's north or north-east coast (Nungwi, Matemwe, or the secluded Pongwe area). Speak to your planner — full Zanzibar quotes are tailored to your beach preferences.
The 9-day honeymoon route is designed for couples and not typically marketed as a family safari. That said, well-behaved older children (12+) can be added at most camps with appropriate room-configuration costs. Some camps (Lions Paw, Four Seasons Serengeti) have minimum age policies. Speak to your planner for family-adaptation options.
Most international travellers need a Tanzania e-Visa (USD 50), applied for online before travel at eservices.immigration.go.tz. Yellow-fever certification is required only if arriving from an endemic country. Tanzania is a malaria zone — consult your doctor about prophylaxis 4–6 weeks before travel. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance (with emergency evacuation cover) is mandatory and your planner will provide guidance.
